James R. Glauer

Jim Glauer is a 1969 graduate of Crestline High School. While attending Crestline, Jim ran cross country, and played basketball and baseball for four years. Jim went on to Urbana College where he graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Jim returned to his hometown and began teaching, coaching and became the Athletic Director for many years.
Jim became Varsity baseball coach in 1974 and remained in that position for twenty years. Jim’s lifetime team record is 334 wins and 165 losses. During his tenure as head coach, the Bulldogs reached state tournament level three times. The Crestline baseball teams were District winners in 1978, 1980, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1994. Regional winners in 1981, 1987, 1994, . In 1981 and 1987, his teams were State-Semi-Finalists, and in 1994 the Bulldogs were State Runner Up. Glauer’s baseball teams won the M.O.C. title in 1981, 1987, 1988, 1989 and won the N.C.C. in 1992, 1993, and 1994. For his efforts, Jim was inducted into the OHSAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1996. Jim was Division Coach of the Year in 1994, District Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1994, and M.O.C. Coach of the Year in 1981. He coached the All-Ohio Series in 1987. Jim’s Number 10 uniform has been retired at Crestline High School.
Jim has also coached 7th and 8th grade football, assistant varsity football, 7th and 8th grade basketball, freshman basketball and varsity basketball.
Jim served as assistant athletic director from 1978-80 and became athletic Director in 1986. During his tenure as athletic director Jim directed the 1988 renovation of Hutson Stadium, the five tennis courts at CHS in 1998 and the baseball and softball “Field of Dreams” in 2000. Jim served as secretary/treasurer and vice president for the District 9 Baseball Association.
Jim retired in 2007 and was Athletic Director for 24 years and since has been subbing and coaching baseball and football at Col. Crawford schools. Jim is currently a member of the Crestline School Board. Jim is founder and chairman of the Crestline Athletic Hall of Fame and is a member of the Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame.
Jim is married to Norma Neff and has three children, Steven, Sara and Susan, and five grandchildren.
