The Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame and Scholarships
Article I Purpose
The purpose of the Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame and Student Athletic Scholarship shall be to encourage participation in high school athletics and to recognize outstanding achievements in the field of sports among Crawford County athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters from the original school districts of Crawford County, past and present. (Supporters are timekeepers, officials, and boosters..) The purpose is also to promote and grant scholarships for Crawford County students to continue education in an accredited college or university.Article II Selection Committee
The Hall of Fame selection committee will consist of two representatives from each existing school district plus one athletic director. The athletic director will rotate between schools each year, will chair the committee, and will vote in case of a tie. The terms of the selection committee shall be three years with the excep,tion of the first two years of the Hall of Fame.Article III Meetings
There will be six meetings per year and nine members must be present to conduct business. Each member of the selection committee must attend at least four meetings per year.Article IV Nomination Procedures
Each year nomination forms will be available at all Crawford County Schools and all Crawford County media outlets and appropriate websites.Article V Selection
Once nominations occur, the selection committee will screen applicants and vote for no more than fifteen nominees.Article VI Number of Enshrinees
There shall be no more than six enshrinees per year. Each group of enshrinees shill be six individuals or five individuals and one team.Article VII Enshrinement Criteria
In order for a member to be considered for enshrinement, the athlete, coach, or supporter, must have distinguished himself or herself in a sport or sports at a Crawford County School or one of the original schools in Crawford County. An athlete must have graduated at least ten years prior to enshrinement and a team must have a ten year span from the time of competition before enshrinement. Administrators and coaches must be retired at least three years. All nominees must have demonstrated good citizenship. Any individual who has made special contributions towards Crawford County athletic success can be enshrined for those accomplishments.Article VIII Awards
Each enshrinee will receive a plaque and be honored at the annual banquet. A plaque shall also be placed in the Hall of Fame.Article IX Scholarships
Each year a one year scholarship will be awarded. As money becomes available, the selection committee can vote to increase the number of scholarships. Graduating seniors from Crawford County high schools will be eligible for consideration. The scholarship will be awarded each year to a Crawford County graduating student that best exemplifies athleticism, work ethic, and sportsmanship in the opinion of the selection committee. Family members of persons on the selection committee may not be considered.
